(AU)^iesObjective: To determine the association of acanthosis nigricans and hyperinsulinemia in obese patients seen in outpatient pediatric service of the National Hospital Arzobispo Loayza during the period January to December 2015. Methodology: The type of case study was prospective, non-experimental, cross composed of 74 pediatric patients diagnosed with obesity treated at the outpatient service Pediatrics of the National Hospital Arzobispo Loayza during the period covered by the study. For data analysis the statistical package STATA version TRIAL 12. Results: 74 obese patients, 70 (94.6 per cent) presented acanthosis nigricans, of these 8 (11.5 per cent) had hyperinsulinemia and 62 (88.5 per cent) do not show hyperinsulinemia, 44 (68 per cent) were male and 30 (40 per cent) women, it was found that the highest incidence of obese and overweight occurred in the age group 10 to 15 years old, 50 (67.5 per cent), the mean BMI was 22.3 kg / square meters. Regarding family history, maternal history of obesity (28) 38 per cent of patients, DM2 only (6) 8 per cent, gestational diabetes in 4 (5 per cent) of patients he was found. HOMA prevalence of 18.18 per cent in males and 20 per cent females was found. No patients met hyperglycemia 0 per cent. Conclusions: In this study it can be noted that there is an association between obesity and hyperinsulinemia and HOMA index (insulin resistance), also association between antecedent hypertension breast with HOMA and hyperinsulinemia and obesity, while acanthosis nigricans would be associated with maternal history of gestational diabetes.
